Job Description for: Senior HR Manager


Department:      Corporate Human Resources

Reports To:        Vice President, Human Resources

FLSA Status:       Exempt

Location:             Kansas City, MO



This position plays an integral role in the Corporate Human Resources department in delivering value added tactical and strategic solutions.  The incumbent will be responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions in alignment with business strategies for workforce optimization.  Ensuring legal compliance with all federal and state regulations.  In partnership with Corporate and Regional HR colleagues, this role will also assist with the management of HR processes to include but not limited to: recruitment and selection, talent development, employee onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, compensation and employee relations.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR goals and priorities. Recommend new and/or revised policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with Regional HR staff, develop and manage workforce planning initiatives to include a new employee rewards and recognition program for Company-wide implementation. 
  • Ensure education and compliance with Company policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations. Act as subject matter expert on employment law and related guidelines. 
  • Provide internal consultation to Corporate management team and act as primary HR contact for Corporate employees. 
  • Develop internal and external relationships to gain support and achieve results.
  • Identify Company-wide training needs for employee development and retention. Deliver identified training courses, facilitate discussions with immediate follow-up to ensure training objectives were met and desired learning outcome(s) were achieved.  Participate in evaluating and monitoring the success of each training program.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations, present findings and suggest recommended next steps.
  • Benefits administration to include reviewing agreements and summary plan documents related to employee benefits.  Serve as subject matter expert and become a value-added resource for employee inquiries. Establish excellent working relationships with vendors and associated consultants. 
  • Assist with building an externally competitive and internally equitable comprehensive compensation structure.
  • Provide expert assistance in the development and periodic revisions of the Employee Handbook and Employee Code of Conduct. 
  • Other duties as assigned.








ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of work experience in human resource management or related field.  The candidate will be results oriented, strong quantitative skills, and well-organized.


Education:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resource management, or related field.  Graduate coursework and Human Resources and professional certifications preferred.
