SUMMARY OF Propane/Refined Truck Upfitter Technician

  • Primary responsibility is to perform upfitting of bodies & equipment in accordance with CTE standards, and to perform the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads job order.
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards.
  • Cleans and properly equips assigned area to perform all necessary work.
  • Ability to read, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic blueprints or schematic drawings.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Documents work performed.
  • Uses and maintains all necessary shop and personal equipment required to complete any repairs or truck building or repairs.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all Custom Truck tools at all times.
  • Ensures that customers' trucks and equipment are kept clean.
  • Attends factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Must have a working knowledge and understanding of safety requirements, and practice them.
  • Must refer to MSDS when using any chemicals, substances and materials, understanding the MSDS information, and abiding by MSDS required personal protective equipment. Must wear gloves, safety glasses and other PPE for all tasks requiring their use.
  • Understands and follows federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Disposes of used oil, grease, antifreeze and filters in the assigned location to insure EPA compliance.
  • Attends Custom Truck safety training and follows all safety requirements.
  • Must work with and for all departments in harmony.

QUALIFICATIONS OF Propane/Refined TRUCK UPFITTER TECHNICIAN:

EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of two years of direct experience as an upfitter or equivalent working on heavy equipment, diesel trucks or ideally, on Propane/Refined Fuel trucks.
Will need to have own tools.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Employee must obtain an appropriate Custom Truck Fork Truck license before operating a fork truck.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must also possess the ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF Propane/Refined Fuel Truck Upfitter Technician:
High mechanical skills with heavy trucks and heavy equipment. Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Acceptable written and oral communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results. Must have initiative and the ability act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Must possess a strong desire to learn.
